Portraiture, for me, is a pursuit of harmony, where each piece reflects a deep connection with the subject. Before any sketch is made, I engage in conversations, listening closely to the emotions and stories that define their experiences. This exchange allows me to observe what features I want to emphasize, shaping the essence of the portrait.
Sketching from multiple angles is crucial, with 2-3 drawings emerging before I settle on one that feels right. Each line becomes a step toward a more intimate understanding, pushing me to explore new perspectives and refine the final composition on canvas.
Teaching art across age groups has been transformative. It has revealed the potential of art to not only inspire but to profoundly impact lives, including my own. Witnessing students grow through creative expression has strengthened my belief in the power of art as a guiding force.
My greatest inspiration comes from my aunt, who was both a tailor and a mehendi artist. Her meticulous craft and passion for learning, despite not being formally trained, left an indelible mark on me. Her creativity and determination to teach me despite challenges are the driving forces behind my work today. Artists like Sambhaji Kadam, Abala Rahiman, and Ah. Muller have further shaped my approach, inspiring a meticulous and thoughtful process.
Each portrait I create is not just an image but a reflection of human connection, with emotions and memories woven into every stroke.
